What a busy day! Halloween is so fun...carving pumpkins, dressing up, and eating candy. Kennedy was a detective, Brayden was Obi Wan Kenobi, and Rex was a cute little cowboy. Our neighborhood didn't have too many kids out this year so people were dumping their candy on our kids- they made out like bandits. When Donald took his annual "taxes" the kids didn't mind too much because they still had tons left.
After school, I tried to get the kids to get their chores done so we could have fun fast. They were so excited about trick-or-treating it was hard to focus on jobs and homework. And trying to get a healthy dinner in them before they gorge on candy was kind of a joke, too. Although Brayden did eat six pieces of pasta instead of his usual 1 before going out last night.
My one beef with Halloween was the teenagers hanging out in the middle of the street when we returned home from trick-or-treating. The group was all dressed up complete with candy bags and smoking cigarettes. Parents, if your children are old enough to go out trick-or-treating by themselves they are too old to trick-or-treat. And please don't let your children wear trashy costumes. Personally, I turn off the lights about 8:30pm on Halloween because all the kids who should be trick-or-treating are home by then.
